I have chess genius on my computer and no matter how hard i try i always lose. I have played about 2000 games with it since purchasing the program and i lost all 2000 (don't laugh). The most i can survive is 53 moves before being chessmated. Okay so i'm not a chess professional. But it costs only $27 whereas rybka, and other strong programs cost around $150. That is a lot of chess power for $27. Using chess genius i have been able to get 2089 rating on yahoo chess. And win 99% of the time. Most ordinary humans do not do well against it. Chess genius was the first chess program to defeat Gary Kasparov and Vishwanathan Anand (the reigning world champion since 2007). Kasparov's defeat to Chess Genius shocked the chess community worldwide. Chess genius is also the first program in history to ever defeat a reigning world champion (kasparov). So in your opinion is it a strong program at good cost of $27? it has the ability to make move in 0 seconds. How powerful is the chess program Chess Genius?
When Chess Genius is given an unlimited time (e.g. overnight)
to consider a move, many of us consider it to be an authority
on the best move in a critical position. It is powerful, as you suspect. How powerful is the chess program Chess Genius?
Congrats on winning 99% on Yahoo Chess. And the 1% is someone with a more powerful computer, email them, and ask them what they are running ha ha.
Why wouldn't a chess program be vastly superior to 99.99999 % of the worlds population. Makes perfect sense to me. Chess software, is perfect for 'optimum strategy' aka 'making the best move in every position'. And as time goes on, the Grandmaster tricks will be programmed in as well.

It's late and I'm to tired to track this down, but somewhere online there is data showing the results of various computer chess programs playing against each other. Knowing the ranking of the other programs that played and won/lost against Chess Genius should give you what you want to know. I have Chess Genius on my Palm PDA and it's always been a great challenge. You can always set up the board and handicap the computer by starting it's side with fewer pieces if you want to beat it. Then start adding pieces back as you begin to win against it in subsequent games. Just a training idea for ya there.
