How come Bobby Fischer and Gary Kasparov never played against each other?

OK. I looked all over and I am pretty sure (although don't want to believe) that a chess game between Kasparov and Fischer doesn't exist. Could anyone point me to one if such a game exists?

If it doesn't could you tell me why? It would've been a legendary game!

Now you may say that in the peak of Kasparov's game, Fischer was already retired, but from what I know about him, he wouldn't have missed a chance to prove he was still number one. As for Gary, well he played a computer and he played the 'world' he shouldn't have minded.

The game logistics wouldn't be difficult, they could have played at a european country or a place like iceland... i still can't believe how such a game was never played!! Any reasons?

Extra Question:

I know these two players peaked at different times, but where there any Grand Masters that played both of them at a fairly close period (i.e. the same GM plays Gary and then plays Bobby in less than a year)How come Bobby Fischer and Gary Kasparov never played against each other?
Bobby simply never wanted to play Gary, or Karpov for that matter. The age differences are such that Bobby would have been well on his way down as Gary was on his way up so there never was a way to truly compare them at their best. I would estimate that Bobby at his best would have defeated Karpov, but not Kasparov at his best. The only in between player was perhaps Spassky, but he was well %26amp; truly down in ability in Kasparov's heyday.
I personally believe Bobby was scared. Think about it; this is the Grandmaster with the biggest ego out of all. Imagine what would happen to a guy who always talks **** and then gets his *** whooped. That is precisely what Bobby was scared of.How come Bobby Fischer and Gary Kasparov never played against each other?
Fischer didn't like Gary Kasparov he said his match with Karpov in 1984 was prearranged Fischer said he was going to write a book proving it (which never happened) Kasparov was also too strong and would have won a match in the 1990s.
Kasparov has 20 years of new info Fischer never had.Duel of the Minds chess book talks in detail about this subject. How come Bobby Fischer and Gary Kasparov never played against each other?
Fischer played a few games as Kasparov was a rising star, but I think you are right, they did not play each other. I can't say why. To be fair, the age difference is very substantial. Fischer was born in 1943; Kasparov was born in 1963. They both played Spassky in the early 90's. See games linked below. But at that point Fischer had not played competitively for 20 years or so.
