Hi, I was playing this guy with my BabasChess Graphical Interface for FICS (free Internet Chess Server) and I don't think I'm that bad a player, however, he was DESTROYING ME. I think he was using a computer against me or something because the moves looked like that of a computer. Very materialistic moves. Anyways, is there a way to find out whether your opponent is using a computer against you. I know he may have been really good but I just want to know if you can do that. Or is there no way to tell?Hey, I have a question about online Chess?
One, So? If he is, then he is a moron who thinks rating in online chess means something. Why do you? Become a "online master" and get a $1.50 cup of coffee.
Two, reread one again.
Three, you can report him to FICS but before you do reread #1 again.
Four, see #1.
If you suspect this, you tell FICS on Channel 1.
All computer enhanced players must carry that logo (c) on their names.
Sometimes people cheat to get ahead. It leaves them further behind.
I've seen Experts offer their skills for fun to lower rated players on the lower account for tutoring purposes. Really, that's no harm no foul in the long run, as the rating must come down soon - and the "victim" usually comes back with a vengeance.
Of course, you may have walked into a guy who knows only one opening really well.Hey, I have a question about online Chess?
there is no way to prove if the other guy is cheating.
once in a while i'll "destroy" my opponent, that doesn't mean im cheating
cheaters get punished in real games with the U.S.C.F.....when there is real money involved
online chess is NOT real chess, so just have fun
I dont think there is a way to tellHey, I have a question about online Chess?
There are some anti-cheating measures, but the bottom line is that there is no way to say for certain that someone isn't cheating. They could have reference material on hand, or a chess program running on a separate computer. Or, they could just be really good.
When I play online, I just assume that I'm playing against computers until someone makes a blunder of some sort, and then I figure I must be playing a human. It's good fun, but just not the same as having someone sitting across the board from you. Also, that's why the only ratings that have any credibility are those from real OTB (over-the-board) tournaments.
Aside: Mark, I see you got another thumbs down. Maybe that's because of the "real money" comment! :-)
If you see your opponent is spitting out replies at 0.01 seconds for 30-40 moves straight and all of them exceptionally strong moves with no mistakes or slight inaccuracies at all? not even GM's play like that.
Most cheaters use the same programs that play the same recognizable style and the moves of the engines are very mechanical cold and inhuman a strong human player is different he plays with the brush stroke of a real artist and his moves are very crisp the way an International Master plays and the way an engine plays are completely different.
It's also possible to sense who your playing through the power of intuition when your playing a very strong human player it's clear who your dealing with.
Haha the chicks must dig you. BIG TIME. Psssst Buy an Xbox
