I learnt the rules as a child and always thought once you promoted the pawn to a queen the opponents piece couldn't capture her straightaway.
However i have just played against a computer and when i promoted my queen the computer captured her straight away - is this correct or am i?Chess rule for promoting queen....?
The only piece on a chessboard that can never be captured is the King.
Any other piece, promoted or otherwise, can be captured at any time, provided there is a legal move available for capture.
You just have to be careful when promoting a pawn to make sure the promotion square isn't defended. :-)Chess rule for promoting queen....?
the computer is correct....it's hard to beat modern technology !!
(you've been playing the wrong way)
(updated answer)...ryan is a COMPLETE moron !!....there is no such thing as individual rules?....there is only ONE set of rules !!
jack-asses like ryan need their mouth stapled shut !!Chess rule for promoting queen....?
The computer is correct
Everyone plays the game differently, so you weren't necessarily wrong, but I do think that the computer follows the standard rules.
