Can I use the computer as my opponent in a chess game? Can I play chess against the computer?
Yes. but keep in mind that playing a computer is not like playing a real person. Playing a computer will help sharpen your skills, but computers typically don't play like humans...making mistakes. So, i encourage you to play both - people AND computers. And if you want to get a great book that will be fun and help you beat people, get CHESS TACTICS FOR CHAMPIONS by Susan Polgar. I have many chess books but that one by far did the most to make me a better player.
If you have an iPhone or iPad, go to the app store and buy CHESS WITH FRIENDS! It's a wonderful way to play chess with others at your conveinience. You simply send them a move and when they check the game, they send one back...then you check the game and on and on like that. You can have several different games going at once.
Yes but you will need to buy or download a chess game program. But it is more fun and cheaper to just go to Yahoo Games there you can play and learn for free. There are a boat load of sites ie MSN games. Pogo games that have chess alsoCan I play chess against the computer?
