Child Would Like to Play Chess With Others On-Line?

My 6-year-old granddaughter has been playing chess for about 6 months. She would like to play with others on-line, but is there a child-safe site/club where she can take part as a beginner, to play others at or just above her level? (She already plays on the computer, but it would be more meaningful if she could play against a real opponent).

Anyone got any recommendations?Child Would Like to Play Chess With Others On-Line?
You don't know any other kids who play online? They're definitely out there somewhere in any of 15 sites I know of.

My students prefer the following sites because of the volume of people who play, and I'm rating them from 1st - 4th place:

1. Internet Chess Club (ICC) - best of the pay sites

2. Free Internet Chess Server (FICS) at freechess.org - best of the free download interface sites

3. Pogo - uses Java - the plus is you can email yourself your games after you play them, but socially it's weaker (you know what I mean) than the dedicated chess-only sites.

4. Yahoo - same drawbacks as Pogo, and you can't change colors. But it's easy to use.
Yes,there is ,there is a website name www.chess.com in which i have also opened my account.open her account and she will play with real friends. tell her friend to join this website.it is free or try www.chesscube.com or take a game name chess master grand master 11th edition which is new go into the fun and she will play a beginner game.Child Would Like to Play Chess With Others On-Line?
Have you looked at Yahoo! Games? There are sometimes rude players on there, but the Social Lounges seem to be ok. Once she plays a few games on it, she can get a rating and see where she stands relative to the other players and then only play against ones with comparable ratings.
oh yes definitely go on www.chesscube.com

create an account and your child can play people at her level because of the rating point system so you'll know from highest to lowest in skill of players. this is absolutely safe and fun you should definitly try it out.Child Would Like to Play Chess With Others On-Line?

There are no specific Chess servers that allow live play for Children only (as far as I know) or screen the players (to verify that it's a child) and moderate.

Your granddaughter is much better off playing with other Children her age offline it's more social and friendly Internet Chess is very rough alot of sore losers and foul mouth characters believe me it's not a great environment for a 6 year old (I'm being honest with you).

I don't know about the U.S. but here in Canada there is an organization called Chess and Math they organize tournaments and activities for Kids maybe there's something like that in the U.S.?

Good luck!
