Name some Chess software?

I am big fan of chess i like to play against my computer ,

plz name any chess sotwares for Windows that gives me tough challengeName some Chess software?
I don't think it gets any better than Chess Master. The level of competition at higher levels is quite good, and it also comes with a ton of educational resources to help you find and correct weak areas in your game.

Chessmaster is great if you don't mind paying for it, it's well worth the $

Unless your are at least rated 1800 in USCF, start out with some freeware or get something out of a local bargain bin if available

I have a soft spot for Chess Master -- I used it many years ago and really liked it.



Most many serious chess players like Fritz.



So those are the front runners ... and they are possibly the best. There are other programs out there that are very good.



Nagasaki is an excellent program ... it has the "create playing style of your opponent" feature. As far as a good program to "just play chess" is couldn't be much better. Also on the programmers web page there is a wonderful article about computer chess.

One of the must have chess programs is Winboard. It is the hard core chess program designed to play excellent chess -- it has the ability to use different chess engines and play tough chess all the time. Levels are very limited. Actually Winboard is not that much fun to play, rather its true value is as a game viewer. I use to look at chessgames in .pgn format.

Babas Chess ... Chess on the net is a little harder than one might suppose. There are several good chess/internet programs for playing on the chess servers (Free Internet Chess Server -- FICS)

And Babas Chess is a fine user interface.

Their are dozens if not hundreds of other chess programs and software that are specialized. Chess programs for mobile phones and PDA's. I use Chesscat for making my chess videos. These can best be found using a Google search.
