I mean I was playing against the computer and it was tough, I never won once. Its like every single move I make the computer set up like four pieces to counter each move.
And it had me thinking, chess masters must be very intelligent and it makes me wonder if they have high IQ's aswell. since they are able to read and process so much information and stuff all at once.I was just play chess against my computer and It felt like a complex IQ test?

True you don't have to be smart to play chess, but you do have to be smart to be good at it. Good chess players have exceptional visual memory, combinational power, speed of calculation, power of concentration, and logical thinking. In fact they used chess to help develop IQ tests. I'm quite sure the IQ of the average grandmaster is in the 150s, Fischer's IQ was about 180.
A lot of research has been done, and it's quite conclusive that playing chess, especially at an early age, will improve your IQ.

You don't necessary have to be smart to play chess; you just have to play a lot of games. I bet any chess master has played thousands of games. If you play chess that long you are bound to get good at it.
In your case, this has probably been the first game you've played against a computer in a while. I bet if try hard 3 or 4 more times, you can probably beat the computer if it's set on sufficiently low difficultly level. You will get a feel for the game and become much better at chess.
